Rekordbox Playlist Analyzer
Export your collection from Rekordbox as XML, drop it into the app, and see how well each track flows into the next: key compatibility, tempo jumps and energy. Here is exactly what it reads and what it writes back.
Import a Rekordbox XML → Open the full app
Free · runs in your browser · your music files stay on your device
What it reads from Rekordbox
- Track title, artist, genre, rating and duration
- BPM and key (converted to Camelot)
- Cue points: hot cues and memory cues, with names and colours
It reads the XML export (File → Export Collection in xml format). It does not open the Rekordbox database file directly, and it never uploads your library.
What it checks
- Key move and BPM change for every transition, with warnings for risky keys and big tempo jumps
- The energy arc of the set, highlighting jumps of more than two energy levels
- Likely duplicates: the same song as radio/extended/original mix, or as mp3 and flac
- Tracks with more than 8 cues, which Serato would cut
What it exports
| Format | Contains | Opens in |
|---|---|---|
| Rekordbox XML | Playlist in order, and optionally BPM, beat grid, key, genre, comments and cue points (you pick the fields) | Rekordbox (via rekordbox xml in Preferences) |
| M3U | Track order and file paths | Serato, Traktor, VirtualDJ, Rekordbox and most players |
| CSV | Position, artist, title, key, BPM and other chosen columns | Spreadsheets |
| Set file (.json) | Tracks, transition plans and cues | This app, on another device |
| Cheat sheet | Printable running order with keys, BPM, transitions and backups | Any browser / printer |
Serato and Traktor do not read cue points from other apps’ files, so only the track order carries over to them.
How to analyze a Rekordbox playlist
- Export your collection as XML. In Rekordbox choose File → Export Collection in xml format and save the file.
- Drop the XML into the app. Open the Music Library window and drop the file in. It is read in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
- Build or load the set. Add tracks to the set planner in play order. Each transition shows its key move and BPM change, with warnings for risky keys, big tempo changes and energy jumps.
- Export back. Download Rekordbox XML with the playlist and cue points, or M3U, CSV, a cheat sheet or a set file for later.
FAQ
Which Rekordbox file does it read?
The XML file from File → Export Collection in xml format. It does not open the Rekordbox database (master.db) directly.
What does it read from the XML?
Track title, artist, BPM, key (tonality), genre, rating, duration and cue points from the collection (playlist folders are not imported; build the set order in the planner) (hot cues and memory cues).
Can I get my set back into Rekordbox?
Yes. Export Rekordbox XML, then in Rekordbox add it under Preferences → Advanced → rekordbox xml and import the playlist. The export can include BPM, beat grid and cue points, and you choose which fields to include.
What about Serato and Traktor?
They can import the M3U playlist export. They do not read cue points from other apps’ files, and Serato shows at most 8 hot cues, so the app warns which cues would be dropped.
