Match songs by BPM and key

BPM & Key Song Matcher

Two things decide whether a mix sounds right: the keys have to agree and the tempos have to be close enough to beatmatch. This page explains both rules; the free app applies them to your whole library at once.

Rule 1: keys that agree

Using Camelot codes, the safe moves from the playing track are the same code, one step either way, or the other letter on the same number. Two-step and seven-step moves are energy boosts. Full chart on the Camelot wheel page.

Example shown for 5B (E♭ major).

Rule 2: tempos close enough to beatmatch

Pitching a track changes its tempo. Small changes are inaudible; big ones make vocals sound wrong. Half and double time also line up.

How the matcher scores a song

Every suggestion shows a match score out of 100 and the reasons, plus a tip on how to mix it (for example a tempo ramp or a short cut on a key clash).

How to find songs that match by BPM and key

  1. Import your library. Drop a Rekordbox XML, Traktor NML, VirtualDJ database, Serato or generic CSV, or an M3U playlist into the app. Files stay on your device.
  2. Pick the song that is playing. Search your library, type it in, or let the app listen through the microphone.
  3. Set the BPM range. Choose how far you are willing to pitch (for example ±6%) and whether half/double time counts.
  4. Read the matches. Each suggestion shows its match score, key move, tempo change and energy, so you can pick the best next track.

FAQ

How far can I change the BPM?

Most DJs stay within about ±6% so vocals and instruments do not sound unnatural. The range is adjustable in the app.

What is half/double time matching?

A 70 BPM track can mix with a 140 BPM track because the beats line up every other beat. The app can count those as matches.

Where do the keys and BPMs come from?

From your DJ software export. If a track has no key or BPM, the app can detect them from an audio file on your device, and values estimated by AI are clearly marked.

Do I have to upload my music?

No. Library files and audio are processed in your browser and stay on your device.
